I a real dumbass sometimes. I got my shiny new louvre set with the new design from Colin just in time for my birthday yesterday. And if you’ve been following this series you’ll know I glued tiny “shelves” into the openings I had cut out for the last set. So of course, I needed to cut those out and sand them smooth.
Anyway I got a little boisterous with the 150 grit sanding stick in the left side opening. When the dust (literally) settled I had opened it by a smidge over 40 thou or 1.12 mm for the rest of the world.
Eek!

I originally thought I could just add some filler, but I have every Evergreen sheet known to mankind, so I poked a few bits of scrap into the gap to see if they would fit. And the 40 thou sheet did, so I cut a tiny strip and glued it in. And it worked!
I may be guilty of gilding the lily, or maybe just fussy, but I realized on Saturday that I needed to move the louvre on the right forward by a tiny smidge (less than 1mm) so the vents would line up on both sides.
I did that the same way as the above. I needed to make the opening longer but the same amount and that meant I also needed to take a hair off the edges of the front half of the right louvre to get it to blend perfectly with the surface.
Anyway, it’s done and will look great.
